One of the many benefits of a career in education is that it has a definite beginning and ending every year. The end of our 2010 ~ 2011 school year has been incredibly busy brimming with end of the year field trips and other culminating activities. Our eighth graders are ready to move on to high school, and we wished them well at their promotion ceremony held in the Shapleigh gymnasium on Thursday, June 16th.
We are also bidding farewell to fifth grade teacher Lois Higgins, who has been with us for many years. We wish her well as she enters retirement. We know that she will continue to volunteer with the Wells Reserve at Laudholm in the bird banding program. Congratulations, Ms. Higgins, we will miss you. We are also bidding farewell to special education teacher Lisa Caldwell, and Ed Techs Mike Smith and Casey Hopwood. We wish them all well in their new adventures and hope that they will stop by to visit us next year.
Please take a few moments to reflect on the past year with your child as you review his/her report card. We hope that all students will read over the summer and come back ready to share with their class. You will be receiving a letter in August with information about homeroom placement and suggested supplies.
On behalf of the staff of Shapleigh School, we would like to wish you a relaxing and enjoyable summer. To our eighth graders, we wish you and your families the very best in your high school experience. To our fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh graders and their families, we look forward to working with you again next year.
