Students in Doug Bennington's fifth grader science classes Skyped with
Andrew "ScubaDrew" Wheeler from Hawaii on Wednesday, June 8. Fifth graders have been studying ecosystems and the Great Garbage Patch, and ScubaDrew served as the videographer on several expeditions to the Great Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean. He shared some of his stories and experiences regarding plastics in the ocean and their effect on the ocean's ecosystem. Students were amazed to discover how much plastic is in the ocean and the fact that plastic levels continue to increase at an alarming rate.
