Approximately 150 students in grades 5-8 performed well at the Shapleigh School's annual Holiday Concert, held on Thursday in a packed Shapleigh Gymnasium. Led by Music Director Jon Roth and assisted by Jen Thayer, 15 songs were performed during the hour-long event.

The fifth grade band began the evening with traditional songs "Hot Cross Buns", "Merrily We Roll Along", "Good King Wenceslas", and "Jingle Bells".

The seventh and eighth grade chorus then sang four songs: "Swingle Bells", "Miracle of Lights" (with sixth grader Bennett Christiansen playing the piano), "White Christmas" and "Yakety Yak".

The sixth grade band then took stage to play "Walkin' Cool", "A Chanukah Festival", and "Caroling". They were then joined by the seventh and eighth grade concert band, who played together (the song they were intending to play at the Kittery Holiday Parade that was canceled due to weather earlier this month).

Finally, the seventh and eighth grade concert band performed "A Celtic Christmas", music from the hit movie "Frozen", and "Hark! The Herald Trumpets Swing".

In addition, the Kittery Music Boosters organized refreshments and a 50/50 raffle worth nearly $200, and announced their upcoming meeting on January 21 at 6:30pm in the Shapleigh Music Room.

Congratulations to all for an outstanding event!
