Shapleigh School sixth graders visited the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) on March 30-31, and participated in a 2-1/2 hour educational program called Complex Systems. While there, students experienced a dynamic introductory presentation about the Gulf of Maine, then rotated through four 20-minute activities at LabVenture! Stations (LVS). Each LVS is an interactive kiosk where students worked in teams doing hands-on experiments and scientific investigations. The program concluded with a presentation displaying their team data, and relating this data to current research being done in the Gulf of Maine.

Half of Shapleigh's sixth graders attended on Thursday March 30, and the other half on Friday March 31. The GMRI is located in Portland, Maine, and more information can be found by visiting www.gmri.org.
