Shapleigh Students Take Part In Mock Election

Students at the Shapleigh School took part in the democratic process on Friday, as a school-wide mock election was held outside the school cafeteria. During lunch, students went to the "polling booth" - a table set up with 10 iPads - and voted electronically for President/Vice President, Maine's Representative to Congress, and Maine's United States Senator. More than 400 votes were cast - nearly the entire student body - while some staff members also took the time to vote.

Special thanks go to eighth grade teacher Heidi Ayotte for organizing the school-wide mock election and creating the Google Form for students. Also, thanks go to a dozen eighth graders who assisted students in the voting process: Aidia Sandlin, Ashley Apodaca, Nicole Moore, Ryan Stuart, Max Perrault, Maxwell Smith, Bailey Goss, Carly Patterson, Rachel Potter, Arabella Sillsby, Kayla Eddy, and Jasmine Clark.
