Shapleigh's Showcase Of Learning Held Thursday

The Shapleigh School's annual Showcase of Learning, celebrating a year of student learning, will take place on Thursday, June 2 from 4-8pm. This event is an exciting and authentic opportunity for families and students. Grade level teachers will be in their section of the school showcasing student work. Refreshments will be served outside the library, and staff will be available throughout the hallways to direct you and answer your questions. Specific events include:

Grade 4 (4-8pm): Ongoing event in the fourth grade classrooms featuring: Animal Research Projects, 4th Grade published writing pieces, and various highlights from the fourth grade year.

Grade 5 (5-6pm): Featuring "Poetry Cafe" and "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader Jeopardy". Family members and students meet in their homerooms from 5-5:30pm, and then transition to their second classroom from 5:30-6pm.

Grade 6 (4-8pm): Ongoing event in the sixth grade classrooms. Students will showcase their work for the year in their homerooms including: LA-Mystery stories and detective case files, social studies-interactive notebooks, science notebooks and folders, and math-fraction picture books. Science will also have a display of Anthropods from leaf litter.

Grade 7 (4-8pm): Featuring "Science Element Maps" in the seventh grade hallways, "Carbon Footprint" posters in science, "Country Report Boards", college/military/trade displays, math survey projects in homerooms, and one piece of self-selected work. Special, must-see presentation of Seventh Grade Speeches at 6pm in the gym.

Grade 8 (6:30-7:30pm): Featuring "8th Grade Celebration of Learning": student portfolios and speeches in the cafeteria. Students should meet in cafeteria at 6:15pm, presentations will begin at 6:30pm (mandatory attendance).

Related Arts (4-8pm): 4-8th grade artwork display on the bulletin board outside the office, 7th grade badminton video in the gymnasium, Jazz band performance in the Music Room at 5:30 and 7:30pm, 8th grade "instrument making" video in the technical education room, 4th grade "friendship recipes" and 7th grade "infection disease" brochures in the Health Room, 8th grade Spanish work on bulletin boards near Spanish rooms.

Family Math Games (4-8pm): Come as a family and play some math-based games in the Art Room. Games available for all levels.
