Eight Shapleigh School Odyssey of the Mind teams competed at the State Competition on Saturday, April 2 in Biddeford, after performing well at the regional competition in Sanford last month. "The Bat Men" finished in first place in Division II (pictured are, left to right: eighth graders Zoya El-Badry, Jayce Nielsen, David Dewhurst, Jayna Wheeler and Braeden Cole), and "Fins, Furs, Feathers & Friends" placed second in Division II (including eighth graders Emma Ackermann, Sydney Auclair, Ellie Graham, Elias Matso, Nichole Roberts and Molly Stites). In addition, "Something Fishy", featuring four high school students and Shapleigh eighth grader Will Heffron, placed second in Division III.

All three of these teams have qualified for the 2016 OM World Finals, to be held May 25-28 at Iowa State University.
