Shapleigh Holds School National Geographic Bee

Shapleigh School held its annual National Geographic Bee on Thursday, January 17, with the top two students in each of the five grade levels participating. For the second year in a row, sixth grader Myles Seckler (second from right) was victorious, with eighth grader Conor McPherson placing second.

Other finalists (left to right): fifth graders Kyle Briner and Keira Durgin, eighth grader David Durling, fourth grader Finn Perry, McPherson, fourth grader Henry Twichell, seventh grader Samantha Bailey, sixth graders Ian and Myles Seckler, and seventh grader Emilio Jakubek. Myles will now take a qualifying test to see if he advances to the Maine State GeoBee, scheduled for March 29. The National Geographic GeoBee National Championship is in Washington, D.C. May 19-22, 2019.
