Congratulations to eighth grader Bowman Rollins, who was named Shapleigh School's Rotary Club of Kittery's Student of the Month for April. Bowman was honored at the Rotary's monthly Student of the Month Breakfast, held at Kittery Estates, on Tuesday April 24.

Some quotes from staff about Bowman:

"Bowman is such a joy -he comes in to school every morning smiling and enthusiastic. He makes us all smile with his positive energy and we’ve been so impressed with all of his accomplishments this year, academic and otherwise."

"It has been such a pleasure to work alongside Bowman this school year. He is very conscientious, particularly when it comes to due dates for assignments. He is never late with, and is often one of the first students to complete the assignment. I'm always excited to proofread Bowman's writing projects; not only are they informative, they can be entertaining too. He has a fantastic sense of humour that lightens my day and makes me laugh. Bowman will persevere at an assignment, changing parts of it, and adding to it until it is just how he wants it. He is a joy to be around - kind hearted, smiling from ear to ear, a good listener - and phenomenal note taker. His typing skills are unbelievable; he's so fast and accurate! He leaves the rest of us in the dust. I am so proud of all you have done this year. You truly deserve this honour as Student of the Month. Congratulations."

"Bowman is wonderful to have in class. He has been in chorus for the past two years during which I have witnessed his dedication, humour, and love for singing. Bowman also has a strong dramatic side that we got to see more of this year as he starred as Vlad Vladikoff in our production of Seussical the Musical. I’m so happy to hear that he is being honored!"

"In seventh grade, Bowman was such a dynamite kid to work with. He showed a willingness to do his school work, an enthusiasm for Five Nights at Freddy's, some terrific public speaking skills, and a contagious smile. I am happy to be able to see him this year as part of the Civil Rights team too. Bravo!!"

"Bo is also active in scouting. He has cheerfully volunteered his time for the Kittery community in several service projects including, but not limited to: Helping the VFW place flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day, helping build the new flag collection boxes you see around Kittery and Eliot, helping with several food drives for the Footprints food pantry, and, helping with Christmas Tree sales and community breakfasts at the Lions Club. Bo is a great kid, and an involved citizen too!"

"I have known Bowman since he was very young and have seen him grow exponentially through the years, this year he has matured greatly both academically and socially. He strives to get is work done and is polite to teachers and peers. His humor and wit are enjoyable and contagious, way to go Bow!"

"Bowman is a young man who brings a great deal of joy to those around him- in school, in church and within our community. My first introduction to Bowman was in 4th grade watching him present a humorous biography about his favorite Marvel hero creator, Stan Lee. I watched in amazement as Bowman described the many contributions that Stan Lee had made developing new superheroes and taking this genre to a new level. As I stood marveling at Bo's technological expertise, at the tender age of 10, I realized several other teachers and staff members had joined us for his entertaining presentation and narration. I remember thinking that Bowman would be a student I would talk about later in life, saying "I knew him when......" And now he is being recognized for his tenaciousness, hard work and involvement within our community. Congratulations, Bowman, this is a perfect award to a very amazing young man!"
