Mr. Pirkl To Lead At UNH Creative Writing Academy

posted Mar 19, 2014, 6:04 AM by Seth Cole
Eighth grade teacher Chris Pirkl will be an instructor at the University of New Hampshire Creative Writing Academy this summer. It's open to all Shapleigh School students, and provides young writers entering fifth-through-12th grade an opportunity to write, edit, and publish their own stories, poems, and plays. Several week-long sessions are offered during the summer, each geared toward a different age group. In addition to writing and editing, students meet and interview professional authors, work in small groups to share their writing and enthusiasm with other students, confer with teachers to improve their work, and learn what it means to be a writer.

The cost is $185 per student to attend one session. All sessions meet Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-2:30 PM in Durham, N.H.
