Mr. Bennington's Class Wins Sumdog Contest!

posted Feb 10, 2017, 10:27 AM by Seth Cole
Doug Bennington's fifth grade homeroom students took home the top prize in the Sumdog York County Math Contest, which took place from February 3-9. The 22 students in his homeroom each took part in a series of math-related problems throughout the week, and earned an overall class scored of 614, 18 points better than the second-place school. The overall class score is the average number of correct answers (out of a possible 1,000) out of the students in that class. Three other Shapleigh School homerooms finished in the top-nine: Michelle Perry's fourth grade class finished in fourth place, Gabrielle McCahan's fifth grade homeroom earned sixth place, and Diana Westman's fourth grade class placed ninth. For winning, Mr. Bennington's class receives premium Sumdog membership for the remainder of the year. This provides the students with access to all the 'houses', and allows Mr. Bennington to utilize the teacher toolbox for assignments and assessments.
