The Shapleigh School food drive that took place from December 4-18 was a tremendous success, with more than 2,000 items donated by students and staff. This is, by far, the biggest food drive in Shapleigh's history! The fifth grade collected the most food items - nearly 1,000 - and as a result, earned a "Holiday Movie/Pajama/Hot Cocoa/Popcorn" event to take place on Wednesday.

The food drive was organized by the Shapleigh School Student Council, led by eighth grade social studies teacher Heidi Ayotte. The items collected were picked up by Kittery Holiday Baskets on Friday. Kittery Holiday Baskets is a local, non-profit organization designed to help families in need.

Organizer Beth Gilbert exclaimed "WOW!  What a great job you all did this year.  I would say you brought your A+ game. Please share with all the students how grateful we are for their support.  We could not provide food for almost one hundred families without their help."
