Fifth Graders Visit Museums of Old York

posted Nov 10, 2014, 7:28 AM by Seth Cole
Shapleigh School fifth graders are preparing for their upcoming colonial unit by visiting the Museums of Old York the week of November 10-14. While there, students will learn about life in the 18th Century through a series of hands-on activities, such as spinning and weaving wool. They will play colonial games and participate in hearth cooking. The program includes an 18th Century school lesson, which takes pace in a one-room schoolhouse.

To get in the spirit of the times, students are encouraged to dress in colonial garb.

Ms. Voltaire's homeroom visited the Museums of Old York on Monday, Mrs. Sheldon's homeroom will visit on Wednesday, Mrs. Fickett's homeroom on Thursday, and Mr. Bennington's homeroom on Friday.
