posted Jun 19, 2013, 7:46 AM by Seth Cole
Fifth graders at the Shapleigh School celebrated their year-long involvement with the Choices (formerly DARE) program with a Culmination Ceremony on Tuesday, June 18 in the cafeteria. Officer Brian Cummer of the Kittery Police Department, the Choices instructor, recognized all 89 Shapleigh fifth graders and handed out certificates at the event. Students Andrew Webb and Cala McEllin led the ceremony in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Aciting principal and Superintendent Allyn Hutton welcomed everyone to the ceremony. Officer Cummer worked with the entire fifth grade throughout the school year on making good choices, drug and alcohol awareness, preventing bullying, and much more. The Choices program replace the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program this school year.
